Abstract/Summary

The Second International Symposium on Women in Tunicate Biology was co-organized by Marie Nydam, Sydney Popsuj, Lucia Manni, and Anna Di Gregorio, and was held virtually on March 25th and 26th, 2025. On both days, online attendance averaged around 50 participants from Brazil, France, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Türkiye, and the United States, and, as in the previous edition, this meeting included a pre-recorded presentation from a researcher in New Zealand. While the first symposium, held in March 2023, mainly focused on highlighting the research carried out by women scientists of past decades (Wilson 2023; De Bernardi 2023; Di Gregorio and Nydam 2023; Di Gregorio et al. 2023; Manni and Anselmi 2023; Mondal 2023; Nydam 2023; Nydam et al. 2023), this second meeting, in addition to leaving space for seasoned career scientists, was mainly aimed at highlighting research projects led by women in the early stages of their scientific paths.
